Welcome to The Chart Show. My name is Sam Schäfer and I will be using this blog to guide you through my life, my mind and my world through the medium of graphs and charts:

But why use charts and graphs when words have served human kind perfectly well for thousands of years you say? Well, because if it is in a chart or graph then it is automatically a fact, as proven by this chart:

But Sam, you’re no good at Maths and actually study a social science with a worryingly small number of graphs and/or charts and therefore a worryingly small number of facts, I hear you say. That is a valid point, perhaps it would be fair to call me something of an enthusiastic amateur. So how will I as a mere amateur fair in this whole endeavour? Let’s look at a graph of who I am to see if we can learn anything:

What we can learn from that is I’m a mediocre student, a slightly above average comedian, and an alright blogger. I am also an awful astronaut, so much so that I am not even an astronaut, once I fell out of a tree and I class that as defying gravity. However even not being an astronaut, I am a better astronaut than I am a person. So as you can see, comparatively this should be one of my more successful projects. But what will you be getting from this? Hopefully a novel and whimsical look at the world through the use of graphs and charts with varying degrees of accuracy. To reflect this I have made a hypothetical graph of how the blog will progress:

So that’s about it for my introductory post, please do check back for more updates, maybe even subscribe. If you like the sound of it tell your friends, if you don’t then tell your enemies. I hope you’ll join me as we journey through my life in pie charts. (Sorry I thought I better get that joke out-of-the-way early).

Cheers, bye.

Sam.
